July Position Statement Southminster Parish Plan Launch at Southminster Show
The Parish Plan is set to be launched by The Southminster in Future Times Group at the Southminster Show on Saturday 19 July. This sees the culmination of a process which began in November 2006. It started with a Village Appraisal Workshop held in the Parish Room facilitated by the Rural Community Council of Essex (RCCE) in which local residents were asked to identify the themes for concern.
Every effort has been made to ensure that the process has been consultative as possible. The main focus of the early consultation was the distribution of general questionnaires to every household in September 2007 together with specialist questionnaires to younger people and businesses. The summary of the responses to the three questionnaires were distributed to every household and further consultation then occurred to make sure that the issues that had been originally captured were still the issues which were top of people’s agendas.
The emerging draft Action Plan was presented to the Parish Council in outline in April 2008 and was the subject of final consultation until the end of May 2008, having been located at key points around the village.
The SIFT Parish Plan Group has been supported by the Parish Council both financially and also through regular reporting to the Parish Council at their meetings. They will have ultimate responsibility for the implementation of the Action Plan, but to support and assist, arrangements are underway for the revamping of the SIFT group. The newly formed group will assist in implementation and monitoring, by reviewing progress against the proposed timescales in the Action . In this way The Parish Council will be held to account in the developments which occur.
Copies of the full Parish Plan will be held by the Parish Council, Maldon District Council, Essex County Council and the Mid Essex Primary Care Trust. In addition copies will be available at One Place in Southminster, The Library and in addition copies will be given to each voluntary organization in the village for reference by their own members. It is also available on The SIFT website at www.southminster-sift.org.uk which will also be instrumental in reporting progress in implementation.
